Geotechnical Features The station boxes and crossover structures were constructed using the cut-and-cover method, while the running tunnels were excavated using the shield tunneling method. The scope of work included design checks for the temporary earth-retaining and bracing systems (diaphragm walls and struts) for four cut-and-cover excavation sections. Additionally, protective design for adjacent buildings affected by shield tunneling was performed for selected tunnel segments.
