
Freeway Bridge Pier Reinforcement and Underpinning Project
Location : Xizhi District, New Taipei City
Site Characteristics Part of the Water Resources Agency’s “Keelung River Rehabilitation Project”
Project Scale The works include lowering the foundation levels of selected piers along the northern and eastern ramps of the Zhongshan Freeway (National Freeway No. 1) Xizhi System Interchange and portions of the Keelung River Bridge No. 3. The project also involves widening existing foundations, installing additional piles for structural strengthening, enlarging the river channel cross-section, and upgrading riverbank protection works.
Geotechnical Features Upon completion, the strengthened pier foundations, widened river channel, and elevated riverbank structures meet the rehabilitation objectives of the Keelung River Project, providing flood-protection capacity up to a 200-year return period. Our company was responsible for the foundation underpinning and bridge-pier strengthening monitoring services for the structures crossing the Keelung River.
